Corby Town slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Burnham as the Calor League Premier Division enters the final stages.
The Steelmen were pretty much down to the bare bones for the clash with joint-manager Tommy Wright not included in the squad while goalkeeping coach David Clarke and joint-boss Andrew Wilson making up two thirds of the substitutes’ bench.
There was, however, a milestone for Sam Ives who was making his 100th appearance for the Steelmen.
Corby fell behind in the first half as John Munday headed home Ryan Upward’s free-kick for the hosts.
But the Steelmen were back on level terms three minutes into the second half when Greg Mills’ free-kick found its way in.
However, Corby were behind again soon after when Nicke Kebamba struck to put Burnham 2-1 up.
And that was how it finished as the Steelmen, who host Redditch United on Wednesday night, were unable to find an equaliser.
Steelmen: Walker, Kennedy, Ives, Ingram, Thomas, Carruthers, Mills, McGowan, May, John, Hoban. Subs: Ehui, Clarke, Wilson.
