Corby Town suffered a first away defeat in six outings as they were beaten 3-1 at Poole Town in the Calor League Premier Division.

The Steelmen handed a start to their most recent arrival Cleveland Taylor while Courtney Herbert was also thrown in with joint-boss Tommy Wright only fit enough for the bench.

But, after a bright start, Corby fell behind after 16 minutes when Steve Devlin beat Paul Walker with a shot into the bottom corner.

And things got worse for the Steelmen just past the half-hour as Jordan Chiedozie’s effort found its way in with the aid of a deflection.

Poole, who were playing at their home ground for the first time in over two months, added a third a minute into the second half as Chiedozie was on target again.

Corby did pull a goal back with 20 minutes to go when Claudiu Hoban, who scored four in midweek at Bedford Town, made it five in two matches.

But it was not enough to spark a late fightback as the Steelmen slipped to defeat.
