Tommy Wright is set to mix things up as Corby Town get ready for two games in 24 hours.

The Steelmen will send a team to the Dog & Duck to take on ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division side AFC Rushden & Diamonds tonight (Tuesday).

That is followed by a home clash with a Leeds United XI at Steel Park tomorrow evening.

And boss Wright, who saw his team open their friendly programme with a 3-0 win over Stewarts & Lloyds on Saturday, insists he will be expecting good performances from both squads that see some action over the next two evenings.

“I have already decided on what the line-ups will be for the two games over the next couple of days,” Wright said.

“It will be a mix of everything over the two nights. Some will be involved in both matches and it gives us another chance to have a look at some of the young lads who are still with us.

“It’s not just about results but I do want us to start as we mean to go on and I will be expecting both squads on both nights to perform well.”

Diamonds boss Andy Peaks, meanwhile, believes the friendly clash represents a “massive test” for his players.

Diamonds have started pre-season in encouraging fashion with a 2-0 win at Rushden & Higham United being followed by a 2-1 success at Bedford Town on Saturday.

And Peaks insists he is happy with the way his squad is shaping up ahead of the new season.

The Diamonds boss said: “We have started really well. We have had two games, one against a team from the level below and one from the division above and we have picked up two wins so that’s pleasing.

“I am pretty happy with the squad. We wanted to add three or four in key positions and we have done that. I didn’t want to change too much because we already had a decent squad in place.

“We are looking forward to the game and it will be a massive test for our boys.

“I have spoken with Tommy and I know he will be mixing things up because they play Leeds tomorrow night as well.

“But anyone who is representing Corby will be of a certain standard so it will be difficult for us.

“It’s not all about results at this stage though. It’s about making sure we getting everything we can out of the game in terms of shape, general play and togetherness.”
