Chris Plummer is hoping for a significant improvement from Corby Town when they head to Hemel Hempstead in the Calor League Premier Division tonight (Tuesday).

The Steelmen’s campaign got off to a poor start at the weekend as they were soundly beaten 3-0 by Burnham at Steel Park.

And the Corby boss knows his team will have to be a lot better if they are to get off the mark this evening.

“Our overall performance definitely needs to go up a notch or two,” Plummer said.

“Individual mistakes were costly to us at the weekend but the whole performance wasn’t what we expect from this group of players.

“We will look at making a couple of changes to the starting 11 but those involved on Saturday know the result wasn’t good enough against a team who were well organised.

“We will have to be a lot better because we are playing a Hemel side who were one of the favourites before the start of the season.

“They got beaten at the weekend as well so they will be keen to bounce back, just like we are. It will be a very tough game.”

The Steelmen are boosted by the return of summer signing Tom Berwick after the striker missed Saturday’s defeat as he completed a three-match ban that carried over from last season.
