AFC Rushden & Diamonds’ sparkling away form and 15-match unbeaten run will get the toughest of examinations at the weekend.

Andy Peaks’ men make the trip to take on Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South leaders Shaw Lane on Saturday.

Diamonds extended their unbeaten run in the league but were frustrated again at the Dog & Duck as they drew 1-1 with Lincoln United - their sixth home stalemate of the season.

They remain in sixth place and in the hunt for the play-off places but Shaw Lane, with whom Diamonds drew 1-1 at home earlier in the season, are flying and are yet to be beaten on their own ground in the league in the current campaign.

But Peaks is relishing the challenge of taking on the leaders.

“They all big games at the moment,” he said.

“When you are sitting where we are, everyone wants to beat you and we need to keep picking results up.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a huge game, it’s a big test as much as anything. They are sitting on top of the league for a reason.

“They are the best team I have seen when they came here and they are the best team we have had watched as well.

“It’s going to be a massive test for us but that’s what you want, you want to pit your wits against the best the division has to offer.”
