Andy Peaks is hoping April will continue like it has started for AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

Diamonds kicked off the final month of the season with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Northwich Victoria at the weekend.

They are now gearing up for a trip to Chasetown tonight (Tuesday) where a win will send them back into the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South play-off places.

The win over Northwich was most welcome for boss Peaks after he had seen his side slip to two successive defeats.

But he is now hoping Diamonds can push on, although he firmly believes they are in for a tough test this evening.

“It was a good win on Saturday and we will take that into the next game at Chasetown,” Peaks said.

“It will be another tough one because they gave us the right runaround here earlier in the season.

“But that was a great way to start the month at the weekend. Let’s hope it continues like it has started.

“I think we have got a confident group, there are a lot of good players in there.

“There is no reason why we can’t win a lot of football matches between now and the end of the season.”

Diamonds go into tonight’s clash a point behind fifth-placed Basford United with two games in hand.
