AFC Rushden & Diamonds have completed the signing of Steve Spriggs.
The ex-Kings Lynn winger put pen to paper this week and goes into the squad for the opening match of the season this weekend.
Diamonds welcome Petersfield Town to the Dog & Duck in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central Division on Saturday (3pm).
Boss Andy Peaks admits he had been “chasing Spriggs all pre-season” and is delighted to finally secure his signature.
Spriggs has been a regular for Diamonds in pre season and Peaks said: “I think Steve could have gone to a few clubs, but he likes the way we do things here and he’s good pals with (captain) Richard Bunting as well so that helped sway him as well.
“Steve brings something completely different. He has a lot of qualities. He’s good on the ball, gets crosses into the box and scores goals as well.
“He is proven at this level, but is not yet as fit as he wants to be. When he’s fully fit, he’s going to be some player.”
