AFC Rushden & Diamonds boss Andy Peaks hopes to tie up deals for Delroy Gordon and Steve Spriggs after tomorrow (Tuesday) night’s pre-season friendly with Biggleswade Town at the Dog & Duck (7.45pm).
Gordon and Spriggs both featured in last weekend’s 2-1 loss at Enfield Town, along with Harry May.
May was a youth team player at Nene Park before the club folded and is currently with Corby Town.
He spent last season on loan at Harborough Town in the UCL Premier Division and Peaks says he wants to “have another look” at May tomorrow night.
May set up Tom Lorraine’s goal at Enfield on Saturday and Peaks said: “Harry rang me to say he wants to come back and he did okay when he came on for the last 20 minutes on Saturday.”
Gordon spent last season at Leamington having previously had spells at Corby Town and Kettering Town and Peaks knows all about the 30-year-old defender.
Peaks said: “I played with Delroy for a couple of seasons when he started out at Rugby and Stamford, I’ve followed his career and we’ve stayed in touch.
“He’s mobile, has plenty of experience and has played at a good level. He would be a good addition.
“We’re going to sit down after the Biggleswade game, see if he’s enjoying his football here and try to sort a deal out.”
Peaks rates his chances of landing Spriggs as only “50-50.”
The ex-Kings Lynn winger has impressed during pre-season and Peaks said: “Steve hasn’t made a decision yet. We will have another chat tomorrow and see what happens.”
