Chris Plummer expects to confirm at least one more new signing for Corby Town in the next week or so.

And the Steelmen boss insists more new additions to the squad will happen as pre-season progresses after his players returned for training this week.

There are currently eight players signed up for the forthcoming Calor League Premier Division campaign after last season’s top scorer Josh Moreman agreed to renew his deal with the Steelmen.

And Plummer confirmed the club are “actively talking” to a number of targets while he will also be casting an eye over some trialists during training.

“We had a good first session back on Monday and the lads have returned in good shape,” the Steelmen boss said.

“We did a bit of ball work and running but at the moment we just want to get the players back into the swing of things because we really start upping things.

“It was good to see some new faces in there and we have a number of lads with us who want to impress and try to earn a deal.

“We will hopefully have one more addition next week but it is very much an ongoing process.

“We are still actively talking to a number of players but we are happy to be patient.”

Plummer, meanwhile, was delighted to see Moreman – who scored 17 goals last season – put pen to paper on a new deal after the striker had been linked with a move away from Steel Park.

“Josh is still a young man who is learning the game,” the Corby boss added.

“We saw glimpses of his natural ability last season and we also saw areas that need some work as well.

“All that will come with experience and the right coaching and it is up to us to ensure we get the very best out of him.

“There was a lot of interest in him from other managers but he has decided to stay with us and I am very happy about that.”
