Paul Malone has returned to Corby Town and will captain the club next season.
The popular central defender was at Steel Park for the majority of the last campaign before leaving to join Stamford in the latter stages following the financial problems that struck the Steelmen and resulted in delays in the paying of players’ wages.
And Tommy Wright’s summer rebuilding job is now well and truly under way as it was confirmed both goalkeeper Paul Walker and young defender Connor Kennedy have, like Malone, also signed one-year contracts with the Steelmen.
Corby will be playing in the Evo-Stik Northern League Premier Division next season and Wright was delighted to secure the services of three key players.
The Steelmen boss said: “All three made important contributions to the season just finished and I’m looking for them to play their part in the progression of the club next season.
“Paul Walker won his plaudits and awards for the last campaign and rightly so. He is the best goalkeeper at this level and we are lucky to have him.
“Connor Kennedy is the next best thing to come through the system at Corby Town and to have him confirmed for next season is a great boost.
“It is up to to him now. Corby is a great platform for him to develop his game and he must now focus on the season ahead.
“I am absolutely delighted to have re-signed Molly (Malone). He is a local lad and every time he puts on the shirt you know it means the world to him.
“It is great to have Paul back at Corby Town, and he will be my captain next season.”
