AFC Rushden & Diamonds have begun their preparations for the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central by retaining the vast majority of their United Counties League Premier Division title-winning squad.

Russ Dunkley and Jason Turner have both left the club but the likes of Matt Finlay, Sam Brown, Charlie Butt, Liam Dolman, Jack Ashton, Jake Gillingwater, Brad Harris, Adam Confue, Richard Bunting, Declan Rogers, Elliott Lamb-Johnson, Tommy Berwick and Tom Lorraine have all agreed to remain at the Dog & Duck.

Diamonds boss Andy Peaks, meanwhile, has already snapped up three new signings with former Daventry Town defender Ollie Wilkinson, King’s Lynn midfielder Dan Quigley and Newport Pagnell frontman Dom Lawlees all agreeing to join for the new campaign.

Former Northampton Town man Courtney Herbert and Jason Kilbride, who was with Peterborough Northern Star last season, will be join up with Diamonds for pre-season training.

Peaks said: “I am delighted that the majority of last season’s squad have committed to the club for next season, I always said I wanted to see what this team can do in the league above.

“Ollie, Dan and Dom are great additions having all played at a higher level, I am sure they will fit right into the squad as they know some of the players already and will all provide great competition for places.”
