Corby Town returned to winning ways as Jason Crowe’s winner sealed a fine 2-1 victory at Stalybridge Celtic.
Manager Chris Plummer brought Crowe back into the starting line-up following an injury while Liam Richardson kept his place at left-back.
And the Steelmen enjoyed a perfect start as they took an early lead when Carl Piergianni curled home a shot from the edge of the area after just five minutes.
The Corby defence held strong for the remainder of the half but the hosts did level early in the second half when Piergianni fouled Joel Bembo-Leta in the area and Kristian Platt scored from the spot.
But the Steelmen regained the lead on 67 minutes when Sam Ives’ free-kick was headed out to Crowe who fired home a volley.
And, despite six minutes of stoppage-time, the Steelmen held on for a win over a Stalybridge side who had started the day in the Blue Square Bet North play-off places.
Steelmen line-up: Walker, Crowe, Richardson, Malone, Piergianni, Webb, McGowan, Wedderburn, Manga, Ives, Moreman. Subs: Horne, Greer, Kaziboni, Vieira, Cuffy.
