Tommy Wright insists he is still on course to have his Corby Town squad finalised by the time they take on a Leicester City XI at Steel Park on Saturday.
The Steelmen opened their pre-season friendly programme with a comfortable 3-0 success over in the Bob Cummings Cup match with Stewarts & Lloyds as new boys Spencer Weir-Daley and Wilson Carvalho got on the scoresheet along with Greg Mills.
A busy period now follows with Corby sending a team to take on ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division side AFC Rushden & Diamonds tomorrow (Tuesday) night before they host a Leeds United XI 24 hours later.
With the Barclays Premier League Foxes also sending a team to Corby next weekend, Wright is hoping to make a couple more additions to his squad to ensure everything is in place ahead of the new Southern League Premier Division campaign.
The Steelmen boss said: “I got everything I wanted out of the game at the weekend.
“It’s all about getting into good habits and I really wanted us to keep a clean sheet, which we did even after we made all the changes in the second half.
“We have got a really good set of lads who are getting well with each other off the field as well as on it.
“And I think that showed at the weekend. it was fairly comfortable for us against a side who worked really hard so overall I was delighted.
“We need to add a couple more and I am hoping that will be done by the time we play Leicester on Saturday.
“It was always the plan to have the squad finalised by the time that game came around and I am confident that will be the case.”
