Thomas Baillie believes Kettering Town will be able to finalise their squad for the new Southern League Division One Central campaign over the weekend.

The Poppies head to ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division side Harborough Town tonight (Tuesday, 7.45pm) for a hastily-arranged addition to their pre-season programme before making their first appearance of the summer at Latimer Park against landlords Burton Park Wanderers on Friday night.

Kettering are set to have the likes Andy Gooding, Chris Logan, Steve Kinniburgh, Dubi Ogbonna and Jon Bukasa back for tonight’s clash after they all missed the 3-1 defeat at St Neots Town on Saturday.

And while the first-team players will get more minutes under their belts, joint-boss Baillie has conceded the next two friendlies will play a major role in deciding the futures of players who remain on trial with the club.

He said: “We decided to arrange the Harborough game to give us another chance to look at some of the players who are with us.

“There are a few that we need to make decisions on and I would expect that by the time we have played Harborough and Burton Park Wanderers on Friday that we will have everything finalised.

“We will have the majority of the first-team boys who missed the weekend back for tonight so they will play a part in it.

“But we want to give all of those who are still on trial every opportunity to impress.

“There are some who are giving us plenty to think about and when the decisions have to be made, we will have to look at whether they fit in with what we are trying to do here.”
