Kettering Town look like they will be heading to Bideford this afternoon with a new recruit on board.
Corby Town manager Chris Plummer, who takes his team to Chester in the Blue Square Bet North tomorrow night, has confirmed Steelmen full-back Nathan Fox is set to join the Poppies on loan for a month.
And the deal could be done in time for Fox to join his new team-mates for the mammoth trek to Devon today.
As it stands, the game is on despite the heavy rain that has fallen in the south-west. Bideford’s game at the weekend was called off due to surface water on the pitch but that has now cleared.
However, there is likely to be another inspection before the Kettering coach is due to leave at midday,
The transport has been arranged thanks, in the main, to donations from the Kettering Town (Poppies) Supporters Trust and the club’s fans. That money helped pay for the coach in advance.
The Poppies are up against a Bideford side who sit immediately above the bottom two in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division.
They are 19 points clear of Kettering, who go into the game on the back of a 4-1 loss to Bedworth United – their fourth successive defeat since returning to action with a new-look squad following a month without playing due to their financial problems.
