Jason Turner and Robbie Maddox have been released by Kettering Town.
Poppies assistant-manager Thomas Baillie revealed Maddox was told he could leave the club ahead of Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division leaders Leamington.
And Baillie also confirmed that Turner, who joined the Poppies from Holbeach United just over three weeks ago, has also left.
“We can’t fault the effort Robbie and Jason have given for the club,” Baillie said.
“But they are at the age now where they want to be playing football every week and we can’t guarantee them a starting place at the moment.
“It hasn’t really worked out for either of them so it is best to let them go so they can go somewhere where they will start every week.
“We have put in a couple of seven-day notices for players we feel can do a job in this league and our hope is that we may have one or two in before Saturday.”
The Poppies, who are 15 points adrift of safety with 17 games to play, head to Bashley at the weekend.
But, before that, they travel to Daventry Town in the last four of the NFA Hillier Senior Cup tonight (Tuesday).
