Kettering Town’s pre-season preparations will be stepped up tonight (Tuesday) when they take on Luton Town at Latimer Park.

The Poppies’ new-look squad has enjoyed an impressive start to their build-up to the new Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division campaign after a 2-0 success at Rushden & Higham United was followed by a 5-0 victory over Bashley at Latimer Park on Saturday.

But boss Marcus Law knows his players will be in for a sterner test this evening.

The Poppies manager is expecting the Sky Bet League Two Hatters to send a mixed squad to face his team as the fixture of one of three in as many days that Luton have set up against non-League opposition.

And Law believes the game will give him the clearest indication yet of where his squad is in their preparations.

“It will be full-time footballers, no matter how old they are, so it will be quite interesting to look at the fitness levels and see where we are,” Law said.

“I am not sure at this stage what sort of team Luton will be sending but I would guess it will be a mix that suits their own needs.

“It is a step up for us in our preparations and I am looking forward to the challenge.”
