Kettering Town booked their place in the semi-finals of the NFA Hillier Senior Cup with a 2-1 victory at Brackley Town Saints last night (Wednesday).
As had been confirmed by boss Marcus Law earlier in the day, he fielded a mixed team for the clash with Elliot Sandy captaining a side that included five members of the club’s under-21 side.
The Poppies took the lead two minutes before half-time through Silvano Obeng but Josh Bowden levelled things up on 67 minutes.
However, just like he did in the first-round clash with Corby Town, Ben Baker came off the bench to hit the winner for Kettering with 18 minutes to go.
It means the Poppies join AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Rothwell Corinthians in the last four and the semi-final line-up will be completed after Brackley Town play Daventry Town in their quarter-final clash on November 24.
Kettering return to action on Saturday when they take on Burscough at Latimer Park in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy
