Kettering Town made it 20 Calor League Division One Central games without defeat as they claimed a hard-fought 0-0 draw at fellow play-off chasers Northwood.
It proved to be a tough evening for the in-form Poppies as they came under pressure, particularly in the second half.
But a point means the incredible run of form goes on, although they remain just outside the top five going into Saturday’s home clash with Chalfont St Peter at Latimer Park.
Jonathon Thorpe was restored to the starting line-up following a hamstring problem in the only change from the team that won 2-0 at Beaconsfield SYCOB at the weekend.
Kettering were the first to show as home goalkeeper Berkley Laurencin saved Thorpe’s snap-shot before Josh Moreman shot wide after cutting inside.
But the game went flat after that as the Poppies struggled to find a way through a well-organised home side.
Northwood started the second half the better and Dave Lawrence was off target before Alastair Worby was forced to bravely dive forward to intercept a dangerous ball into the area.
Karl Oliyide saw an effort bounce just past the post for the hosts and they also hit the woodwork through Niko Muir.
But Kettering created a clear chance themselves when Moreman found Chris Logan and he could only shoot over with just the goalkeeper to beat.
Dean Thomas threw top scorer Dubi Ogbonna on for the final 16 minutes but it was Northwood who went closest to grabbing a winner when Lawrence’s shot swerved just wide.
A run of four successive away matches for the Poppies has produced 10 points from a possible 12 with no goals being conceded along the way.
In the end, this was a well earned point for Thomas’ men who remain on course for a top-five finish.
Poppies: Worby, Clifton, Kinniburgh, Gooding, Eze, Hull, Thorpe, Jepson (sub Ogbonna, 74 mins), Sandy, Moreman, Logan. Subs not used: Fuller, Hamilton, Osei-Siribour.
