Kettering Town have released an update on their search for a long-term answer to their ongoing stadium issues.

The Poppies have been at Latimer Park in Burton Latimer since the height of their financial problems forced them to leave Nene Park.

They have been sharing the ground with UCL Division One side Burton Park Wanderers and this season took over the full running of the lease.

However, with that only being for one campaign, the hunt for a solution has been ongoing.

Last week, Wanderers chairman Stewart Glendenning announced he would be standing down at the end of the season.

And, within his statement, he said: “My number one priority is securing the lease for all ages of our club in a working relationship with Kettering Town FC for the next 25 years.

“There is a lot of work ahead with not a lot of time to sort it all.”

That comment has sparked speculation about what the future may hold for both clubs and whether staying at Latimer Park is a serious option.

The Poppies have now responded to the rumours and have confirmed they have “hammered out the basis of a plan B” should they not stay at their current home.

In a statement released today, the Poppies said: “There have been mentions on social media regarding Latimer Park by the outgoing chairman of Burton Park Wanderers and others involved with their club. We understand their concern.

“Kettering Town is aware of meetings scheduled this week which do not involve either Kettering Town or Burton Park Wanderers.

“We hope that once those meetings have been concluded, that we can then have a clear picture as to any options which may be available at Latimer Park.

“Due to our own situation, and the need to ensure that we have a future, we have already hammered out the basis of a plan B, should Latimer Park not prove possible.

“We do not want to make any announcements or start further speculation until we know what is what.

“The chairman (Ritchie Jeune), who is currently abroad, is working hard to get matters sorted, so that in the next few weeks we all know where we stand for next season and ongoing.”
