Dean Thomas believes it is “unlikely” that Kettering Town’s Calor League Red Insure Cup third-round clash with Premier Division outfit Redditch United will go ahead tomorrow (Tuesday) night.
Parts of the Latimer Park pitch were underwater following the heavy rain on Friday night and Saturday morning as the Poppies’ Division One Central match with Potters Bar Town was called off.
More rain followed on Sunday and boss Thomas now feels the best chance of his team getting some match action will be when they are due to host Leighton Town in the league this weekend.
“We want to play and we are ready to play,” the Poppies manager said.
“As far as the lads are concerned, the game with Redditch is on until we hear otherwise and we will be fully prepared.
“But I think it is very unlikely that the pitch will be ready in time for it.
“There were parts of it that were underwater following the rain at the weekend and I would be surprised if it has dried out for tomorrow.
“We have another home game to look forward to at the weekend and I think it would be sensible to start preparing for that.
“We will see what happens but I am sure they will have a look at the pitch tomorrow morning and see what happens from there.”
