Kettering Town’s Calor League Division One Central clash with AFC Hayes has been called off 24 hours before it was due to take place at Latimer Park.

The pitch was already saturated and the heavy rain yesterday resulted in the club sending photos of the surface to the Southern League.

The league agreed that no further inspection was needed and that the game could be postponed early after the Poppies had said they would carry out an early inspection tomorrow (Saturday).

It is the second home game this week that the Poppies have seen fall foul of the weather. They are due to return to action at county rivals and fellow play-off contenders Daventry Town on Tuesday night.

Kettering, meanwhile, have confirmed that forward James Tricks has now been released of his registration, having left the club some time ago.
