Dean Thomas insists there is no pressure on Kettering Town when they head to Arlesey Town in the second round of the Calor League Red Insure Cup tonight (Tuesday).
The Division One Central Poppies are up against Premier Division opposition in the league’s knockout competition but boss Thomas is sure his team can earn a place in the next round.
And while the league will remain the priority, the Kettering boss is hopeful of a good run in the cup while also using it as a chance to get minutes into legs after his team were without a game at the weekend.
“We don’t know what they (Arlesey) will do as far as team selection is concerned,” Thomas said.
“But either way it will be a good test for us against a team from the division above.
“We didn’t have a game on Saturday so we are looking forward to it and it is a chance to give some of the lads who haven’t featured as much recently a bit of time on the pitch.
“But we won’t be weakening the side. We are taking the competition seriously and we want to go as far as we possibly can.
“It isn’t a pressure game. It is one we can go and enjoy and hopefully we can get the right result and go on a bit a further.”
