Some of Kettering Town’s injury and suspension problems look set to clear up in time for their bank holiday weekend double-header.

The Poppies have a clear week to prepare for two games in the space of 48 hours as they bid to get their Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division campaign on a consistent footing.

Marcus Law’s team followed up a fine 3-1 victory at Redditch United with a poor display as they went down 3-0 at Basingstoke Town at the weekend.

And while Law admits he and his team have work to do, his options are set to be boosted ahead of the clash with Stratford Town at Latimer Park on Saturday.

Law believes injured pair Liam Bateman and Liam Canavan will be “in contention” for the clash while Wilson Carvalho is now available after completing his six-match ban.

Rene Howe still has two games to serve of his own suspension.

But Law said: “Liam Bateman and Liam Canavan will both be in contention for next weekend and Wilson is available again.

“It’s good news because all three of them can give us something we have been missing.

“But we have got work to do during the week.

“There are some players who aren’t at the levels we expect and we have to address that.

“It’s going to be a big weekend with two games coming so closely together.

“We have to make sure we are ready to hit back from that performance at the weekend.”
