Kettering Town have completed the signing of former St Ives Town goalkeeper Nick Bennion.
The stopper has been drafted in by joint-managers Thomas Baillie and Scott Machin after it was confirmed that last season’s goalkeeper Alastair Worby is unable to commit to playing regular football this season due to work commitments in Oxfordshire.
Bennion, who has also played for Corby Town in the past, is set to make his debut for the club in their latest friendly outing at St Neots Town tomorrow (Saturday) - a game that will now be played on a 3G surface.
He will compete for the number one jersey with youngster Jamie McAlindon, who was in goal for last Monday’s 1-0 victory at Rothwell Corinthians.
The Poppies, meanwhile, also confirmed that last season’s player-of-the-year Henry Eze trained with the rest of the squad last night (Thursday) after his future had been thrown into some doubt following an appearance for Tamworth in their friendly at Hinckley AFC in midweek.
