James Clifton has become the latest member of Kettering Town’s Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central title-winning squad to leave Latimer Park.

The right-back was this evening confirmed as one of the first signings in former Poppies boss Kevin Wilson’s squad at the Vanarama National League North side Nuneaton Town this summer.

And Clifton, who follows Josh Moreman, Richard Knight and David Kolodynski in leaving Kettering, has admitted he is looking forward to the new challenge.

He said: “I know we will be a young squad at Nuneaton but that doesn’t mean we can be written off.

“I know the gaffer and Steve Chettle, I worked with them before.

“They want to play football the right way – there is no reason why that way cannot get us to a play-off or even challenge beyond that.”

Clifton is adamant his own style of play would be beneficial to that style of play.

He said: “I like to get forward and attack, that is the kind of player I am.

“I obviously defend when I have to, but I do think of myself as an attacking full-back on the whole.”
