Thomas Baillie’s first game in charge of Kettering Town ended in defeat as they were beaten 3-1 at Bashley in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division.
Baillie took over the reigns from Alan Doyle this week and things seemed to be going well in the first-half as the returning Lewis Wilson giving them a 1-0 lead.
But they were overrun in the second period as the hosts fought back to collect the points.
The new Poppies boss completed three new signings ahead of the game with Wilson returning on loan from Northampton Town until March 31 on Friday evening while Jean Sylvain Dossou and Aidan Bradshaw were also added to the squad.
Dossou and Wilson both started the game and it was the latter who carried on from where he left off after scoring seven goals in his first loan stint with the Poppies.
He gave the visitors a deserved lead after 27 minutes and that was how it stayed until half-time.
But Bashley came back hard at Kettering in the second half and their pressure finally paid off as they went in front with two goals in three minutes.
Rob Gradwell levelled on 74 minutes and then Charlie Knight struck to give the hosts the advantage.
And the Poppies were finished off with two minutes to go when James Stokoe made it 3-1.
