Cavell Jarvis was the hero for Burton Park Wanderers as his hat-trick helped fire them into the last four of the NFA Junior Cup.
The ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Division One side beat MDH Teamwear Northants Combination Premier Division outfit Stanion Redstar 4-2 on the 3G surface at Kettering’s Buccleuch Academy as the quarter-final clash was finally played at the sixth time of asking.
Stuart McMichael put Stanion in front but Jarvis struck twice in the space of 15 minutes to give Joe Smyth’s team a half-time lead.
Redstar levelled through John Harland just past the hour but Wanderers responded well and Jarvis completed his treble to make it 3-2 before Dan Spaughton rounded things off.
Wanderers will now travel to Division One rivals ON Chenecks in the semi-final as they battle for the right to face Combination outfit Brixworth at Sixfields in the showpiece.
The United Counties League programme was once again decimated by the weather.
But it still proved to be a bad day for Premier Division strugglers Stewarts & Lloyds as they went down 1-0 at Boston Town.
A goal from former Rushden & Diamonds striker Daryl Clare on 17 minutes proved to be the difference between the two sides as Boston moved 10 points clear of the relegation zone.
But the Foundrymen remain three points adrift of safety having played more games than those around them.
In Division One, Whitworth were denied a victory by a stoppage-time goal at Peterborough Sports, who were under the caretaker charge of Ian Jackson following the departure of Seamus Morgan.
Remy Brittain put the Flourmen in front when he punished some poor defending after 25 minutes.
But Whitworth were unable to hold on as a Chris Garwell free-kick four minutes into injury-time earned the hosts a share of the spoils.
