Corby Town are out of the Blue Square Bet North’s bottom three after an outstanding performance against Droylsden tonight..
Josh Moreman led the way with a hat-trick but there was also a goal for Nat Wedderburn and an own goal by Cliff Moyo as the Steelmen triumphed 5-0 over their opponents from the north-west.
It could not have started better for the home side who went in front after just 68 seconds.
A cross by Greg Kaziboni found Moreman at the back post and he headed in.
Moreman hit the post when clean through soon after but then the Steelmen, who included new loan signings Jack Evans and Alex Brown in their starting line-up, went off the boil until after the break.
But almost immediately after the resumption Moyo, who had only been introduced from the bench seconds earlier, headed into his own net after Avelino Vieira had put in a good cross from the right.
It took another half hour for Corby to make the game safe, though.
A good individual effort by Moreman put them three up and cruising to three points.
The rest of the game was far from action free, however, and there was plenty to enjoy even in stoppage time.
Lee Rick hit the bar for Droylsden before a solo effort from Wedderburn made it 4-0.
There was still time for Moreman to complete his hat-trick as he scored from the spot after Vieira had been brought down in the area.
It was a great win and a valuable three points for Chris Plummer’s men and one that sent most of the 310 spectators at Steel Park home happy.
