The local interest in the FA Cup has, for the time being, been ended after Wellingborough Town and Thrapston Town were both beaten in the preliminary round.

All the goals came in the first half at the Dog & Duck as the Doughboys were beaten 3-1 by King’s Lynn.

Former Wellingborough man Jason Turner gave the visitors the lead from the penalty spot before Stephen Spriggs and Danny Beaumont made it 3-0 after 34 minutes.

Craig Lawman replied before half-time for the depleted hosts, who didn’t disgrace themselves.

Thrapston, who beat Cogenhoe United in the extra preliminary round, went down 3-1 at Peterborough Northern Star.

Danny Escorsio and Dan Bucciero put the hosts 2-0 up before Jamie Gilsenan’s penalty gave Thrapston hope.

But Lewis Stone ended their chances just past the hour mark.

Desborough Town picked up their first win of the season in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division as they beat local rivals Harborough Town 3-0 at the Waterworks Field.

Kevin Byrne gave Ar Tarn the lead on 56 minutes and Tom Mills added another five minutes later.

And Byrne’s late penalty completed a good win.

The Premier Division local derby ended in deadlock as Stewarts & Lloyds snatched a late equaliser against Irchester United at Occupation Road.

Ross Whitney put the visitors in front with just 15 minutes left but Paul Caswell came to the home side’s rescue in the final minute.

Shaun Morris scored a late winner for Rothwell Corinthians as they beat Buckingham Town 3-2 in Division One.

Morris had opened the scoring after 49 minutes and Sam Johnson made it 2-0 just past the hour mark.

But Dean Bland’s brace brought Buckingham level and the game looked to be heading for a draw until Morris struck with just a minute remaining.

Alfie Taylor was the hero for AFC Rushden & Diamonds as his late goal rescued a point at Wootton Blue Cross.

Scott Sinclair’s goal looked to be sending the hosts to victory but Taylor struck with five minutes to go.

Burton Park Wanderers first match of the season ended in a 2-0 home defeat to Potton United with Alex Taylor and Gary Ansell-Carter on target.

Raunds Town also suffered defeat as ON Chenecks won 2-1 at Kiln Park.

Elliott Muddiman put the visitors in front before Josh Davis equalised. But Dan Cotton’s late goal sealed Chenecks’ success.

Rushden & Higham United were beaten 3-2 at home by Bourne.

Craig Harrower gave the Lankies the lead inside the first minute but goals from Mike Feely, Ben Easson and Craig Rook turned the game on its head.

Aaron Cormack’s goal proved to be only a consolation for the hosts.
