Cobblers goalkeeper Jordan Archer was delighted to keep his first clean sheet in a Cobblers shirt following the 1-0 win away at Morecambe on Saturday.
The stopper signed on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in August until January and today was his fourth league appearance for the side.
Archer was quick to praise the team in front of him after the game.
“I’m delighted. All the boys worked hard and we’ve worked hard all week on our defensive work,” he said.
“We score enough goals but we needed to tighten up at the back and the lads were brilliant today.”
Archer has already suffered mixed fortunes during his short Northampton career.
Having conceded five goals against Accrington, three against Bournemouth and Newport and one in the 5-1 win over Hartlepool, he was happy to have a rare quiet day between the posts at the Globe Arena.
“The whole team, not just the defensive four, put in a shift today and it’s been a tough, tough 90 minutes but it’s great to go back with the three points,” he added.
“The main aim for a keeper is to keep a clean sheet. Even when you win 5-1 I’m disappointed not to get the clean sheet but to get that first one today – it’s a good buzz.”
