Desborough Town bounced back from their surprise defeat at Irchester United with a stunning success at the Waterworks Field on Tuesday night.

Steve Walker’s side demolished reigning ChromsaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division champions Long Buckby 5-0 as they wasted little time in getting back on track.

Unfortunately, that was where the good news ended for the local clubs.

Stewarts & Lloyds finished on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller as Harborough Town won 4-3 at Occupation Road while Wellingborough Town’s problems continued with a 2-0 home defeat to Newport Pagnell.

And Irchester were unable to build on their weekend win over Desborough as they went down 2-1 at Yaxley.

There was also disappointment for Raunds Town who were involved in a 4-4 draw at Division One rivals Oadby Town in the preliminary round of the Knockout Cup. However, it was the hosts who prevailed 4-3 on penalties after extra-time.
