Mark Starmer has only one thing on his mind this weekend.
AFC Rushden & Diamonds host Graham St Prims in the third round of the FA Vase with a place in the last 32 up for grabs.
The Diamonds, who beat Newport Pagnell 2-1 in midweek to extend their winning streak to eight games, will be favourites to progress and that is exactly what Starmer wants to see occur.
He said: “We got to this stage last year and we definitely want to go further and why can’t we?
“We’ll go out to play our own game and try to get the result that we desperately want.”
And what about the side who stand in the way of progression to round four?
The East Midlands Counties League outfit, who are based in Spondon, Derbyshire, have been watched and Starmer knows what’s coming.
He continued: “They can play a bit and they like to get the ball forward quickly.
“Sides are definitely raising their games when they face us and it will be the same on Saturday.
“But we’re at home, we’ll set up like we normally do and play how we want to play and our aim is to get through to the next round.”
