A general improvement is on Chris Perry’s agenda this weekend.

Wollaston entertain Premier Division new boys Rushden and go into the game on the back of an opening-day defeat at Old Northamptonians which was the result of an underwhelming performance.

And Perry, in his second year as captain, expects better come Saturday afternoon.

He said: “We started poorly and there’s no hiding away from that.

“We didn’t bat particularly well and although we managed to take five wickets, we dropped a few catches.

“So we know that we need a much better all-round performance.”

As for what his side will face, Perry expects a tricky test and he added: “They’ve strengthened well – Christian Davis is a good signing for them – and will be a competitive outfit.

“But we know what we have to do and that’s to do better in all areas.”

Oundle began their second year in the top flight with a narrow one-wicket win at Northampton Saints and will enter this weekend’s contest with Peterborough in confident mood.

Elsewhere, Rushton entertain Finedon Dolben, the Saints travel to Brixworth, Burton Latimer got to Stony Stratford and Horton House host Old Northamptonians.

In Division One, Desborough, who opened their account with a 105-run thumping of new boys Rothwell, make their home bow against Geddington.

There’s an all-Wellingborough clash at The Embankment where Old Wellingburians face Wellingborough Town and just down the road Finedon 2nd come up against Irthlingborough at Avenue Road.

The other ties see Isham travel to Weekley & Warkton, Peterborough 2nd host Rothwell and Loddington make the trip to Old Northamptonians 2nd.
