David Willey had a successful evening at the Northamptonshire end of season awards dinner.

The 22-year-old all-rounder picked up three prizes at the event which was staged at the County Ground on Thursday evening, the Frank Russ Shield for Young Player of the Year, the Players’ Player of the Year (County Championship) sponsored by Steffan’s and the Northants Telegraph Media Player of the Year.

Alex Wakely’s good season in the one-day arena was rewarded with the Players’ Player of the Year (limited overs) sponsored by Steffan’s trophy and the Lynn Wilson Trophy for Academy Player of the year went to Ben Duckett.

The club’s media officer, Brendan Gilbert, was named as the Frank and Doris Spokes Clubman of the Year and Amy Gauvrit picked up the Northamptonshire Women’s Player of the Year honour.

The evening’s main honour, that of the Northants Cricket Player of the Year award, went to James Middlebrook who beat off competition from Willey.
