Sri Lanka will field a powerful side in their only fixture before the Test series against England next week.
The tourists have only one first-class fixture as preparation, an indication of the clogged schedules that are the norm these days, and as such the majority of their first choice team will be in action against Northamptonshire at the County Ground.
Only captain Angelo Matthews and spinner Rangana Herath, both of whom will expect to play at Lord’s next week, will sit out the game.
The hosts, as expected, will field three debutants in James Kettleborough, Richard Levi and trialist Chad Barratt, in a side that is very light in bowling.
David Willey will bowl for the first time in a senior game this season but his workload will be restricted across the two innings.
Northants: Peters, Kettleborough, Keogh, Levi, Coetzer, Duckett, Spriegel, Crook, Willey, White, Barratt.
Sri Lanka: Thirmanne, Silva, Karunaratna, Sangakkara, M Jayawardene, Chandimal, P Jayawardene, Perera, Parasad, Welegedara, Pradeep.
