Burton Latimer will break new ground in the Hevey Building Supplies NCL when they field the first female to play in the Premier Division.
Wicketkeeper Laura Tonks has been named in the side that will travel to Brixworth for a game that the visitors need to win.
A narrow one-wicket defeat to Oundle last time out has left Burton 64 points adrift of Stony Stratford with Brixworth a further nine points on and captain
Damon Hanney believes Tonks will do a good job.
He said: “Laura’s done a lot of keeping and has played in the Women’s Super Fours tournament at Loughborough.
“She’s a good cricketer and with Luke Odell away, she deserves her chance in the side.”
As for the game itself, Hanney knows that time is running out.
He continued: “I think we’ve got a really good chance of taking some points.
“We need to win at least three of our final seven games and this is one where we think we can do that.
“Last week’s result was really difficult to take but we did a hell of a job to take it as far as we did and that can stand us in good stead for this weekend.
At the other end of the table, leaders Peterborough are on the road at improving Northampton Saints while second-placed Rushton host Horton House.
Old Northamptonians, who are in third, visit Oundle and Finedon Dolben make the short trip to Rushden.
The weekend’s other tie sees Wollaston host Stony Stratford.
