Northants cruised to a six-wicket win against Leicestershire Foxes at the County Ground on Sunday afternoon as Josh Cobb and Adam Rossington both hit half-centuries.

The home side easily chased down the 150 needed for victory after restricting the Foxes to a below-par total thanks to three for 20 from Richard Gleeson.

The result meants Northants are now back at the top of the North Group, ahead of Birmingham Bears on run rate.

And Ripley said: “We’re playing some good white-ball cricket.

“We’ve picked up some injuries along the way but we’ve got people coming in, making good contributions.

“The lads have been very consistent this season, they’re playing very well and roll on our next T20 game (at Birmingham Bears on Friday).”

Gleeson has caught the eye in recent weeks and he was the star of the bowling show against the Foxes.

The 28-year-old is currently at the County on a part-time basis, but it appears his stay is about to be made more permanent.

“Richard Gleeson has come in from the cold in some respects but he’s now he’s leading our attack and doing a great job for us,” Ripley said.

“He’s been good for weeks, he’s an excellent bowler and a good lad.

“I’m hopeful that we’ve got some good news coming to secure him for a number of years to come.”
