Oundle are the Hevey NCL Twenty champions after defeating Finedon Dolben by six wickets in the final at Overstone.
In a match shortened to 17 overs per side because of pre-match rain, Oundle passed Finedon’s 130-7 with three balls to spare.
Mark Hodgson top scored for Oundle with a well-struck 52 during a match-winning opening stand of 81 with Alex Martin. That start enabled Oundle to survive a mini-wobble before Cameron Wake and Callum Greaves saw them home. Greaves smacked a pressure-relieving six to tie the scores in the final over.
Jack Bolsover had earlier taken four wickets for Oundle.
It’s been a remarkable run of matches for Oundle as they went past 1,000 runs in the competition last night and they’ve only played five games.
Oundle now take their unbeaten Twenty/20 record this summer - they have already won the Rutland Twenty/20 crown - to the East Midlands Final at Finedon on Sunday (August 2) as they attempt to emulate local rivals Peterborough Town’s run to the National semi-finals last season. Oundle’s semi-final is against Loughborough, the champions of Leicestershire.
Notts champions Kimberley Institute tackle Bury St Edmunds in the other semi-final. The winners then play the final at around 4.30pm.
Oundle and Peterborough Town have now shared the last six Northants Twenty/20 titles.
