Niall O’Brien has been named in Ireland’s squad for next month’s World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.
The Northamptonshire wicket-keeper/batsman, who has made 51 one-day international and 18 T20 international appearances for his country, will be part of the 15-man party for the showpiece event.
The Irish have been drawn in a difficult group with Australia and the West Indies and they get their campaign under way against the former on September 19 at the R.Premedasa Stadium in Colombo.
They then face the West Indies at the same venue five days later.
The fourth instalment of the competition starts on September 18 when the hosts take on Zimbabwe in Hambantota.
