Finedon Dolben against the Old Northamptonians is traditionally one of the standout fixtures in the Hevey Building Supplies NCL Premier Division.
George Arblaster’s side make the trip to Avenue Road this weekend for what has the makings of a decent encounter.
And the home captain, Chris Goode, believes his side need to up their game if they are to remain in the hunt at the top of the table.
He said: “They’ve had the better of us in recent years and they’ve got matchwinners in their side.
“We’ve not been doing our jobs as consistently as we can this season and we need a 20 per cent improvement.
“I think we’ve got to play a bit smarter, especially with our batting where we need to build more rather than blast, and this would be a good game to start.”
Elsewhere in the top flight, there is a good contest in prospect at Short Stocks where second place Rushden entertain Rushton who are only 11 points behind in third.
Peterborough’s defeat of the ONs last weekend has seen them move to the top of the table and they are at home to Horton House.
A big game is in prospect for struggling Wollaston, who have only won once this year, as they host bottom side Burton Latimer.
The two other games see Oundle on the road at Brixworth and Stony Stratford travelling to Northampton Saints.
In Division One, leaders Geddington will be looking to return to winning ways after last week’s reverse to Rothwell as they face Old Northamptonians 2nd at Billing Road.
Rothwell host Wellingborough Town, Irthlingborough are at home to Old Wellingburians, Desborough travel to Isham, Loddington face Peterborough 2nd and Weekley & Warkton welcome Finedon 2nd.
