Gloucestershire have taken a punt on a player whose name will be familiar to followers of the Northants Cricket League.
Gareth Roderick, who had spells at Old and the Old Northamptonians in the recent past, has signed a two-year deal with the west country outfit after impressing for the club’s second string in a handful of outings.
The 21-year-old had a successful season with Cheltenham in the Gloucs/Wiltshire division of the West of England Premier League, scoring 1231 runs with six centuries.
Roderick’s spell in the Northamptonshire League saw him compile a superb 1479 runs for Old in the 2010 season before switching to Old Northamptonians the following summer.
He totalled a less productive 412 runs at just under 30 for them in the top flight but caught the eye enough to be given a couple of Second XI chances for the County.
