Finedon Dolben’s grip on their Northamptonshire Cricket League Premier Division crown loosened slightly after they suffered a damaging defeat to old rivals Northampton Saints.
They looked well placed to chase down a small target of of 121 to win when they were set at 85-4.
But the last six wickets fell with just 18 runs being added to give Saints a healthy advantage at the top.
Andy Oram’s 6-29 – following on from his 6-35 last week – was the decisive contribution.
Peterborough maintained their push with an eight-wicket win over Old Northamptonians while newly-promoted Wellingborough Town are up to fourth after a comfortable win over strugglers Horton House.
Christian Davis was their star hitting 58 in their 182 all out and then taking 5-32 as the House were dismissed 100 runs behind.
County bowler Luke Evans offered some consolation as his return from injury brought him 5-19.
Elsewhere, Burton Latimer continue to struggle after being thrashed by Brixworth, Stony Stratford edged out the Academy by 16 runs and Wollaston shared the honours at Rushton.
Loddington are still top of Division One despite only drawing with Finedon 2nd but there were huge wins in the other games for Rushden, Oundle, Desborough, Geddington and Kettering who now sit second..
