Once again the loss of lives in Afghanistan has brought home the dangerous job our service personnel do.
This time it was six soldiers from the West Yorkshire Regiment who were killed.
This brings the total number of British service personnel killed in Afghanistan to 404, add to this the wounded and those ex-service personnel suffering from combat stress, which in some cases does not show itself for many years.
One can see the enormous task it will be to support those people – many for the rest of their lives.
The Soldiers, Sailors & Airmen & Families Association/Forces Help is the oldest forces charity looking after all three services and their families, even if they have served for just one day.
