Children at a Kettering nursery have held a party to celebrate its new name.

Youngsters at Sunnylands Nursery at St Peter’s School joined parents, staff, governors and head teacher Maria Chapman to celebrate the renaming with a day of fun sun-themed activities. It was followed by a tea party for parents who were entertained by the children singing songs linked to the sunshine theme.

“The children love our new name,” said Philippa Walshaw, the nursery manager. “They were very excited at the arrival of Sunny Bear, the new mascot for Sunnylands Nursery.”

Head teacher Maria Chapman added: “The original name of this wonderful Victorian house that once belonged to the Timpson family was Sunnylands, so adopting the name for our Nursery is a fitting tribute to the past and a way of moving forward and updating our Nursery.”
