Young footballers have been praised by their school for winning two football tournaments.
Pupils from Huxlow Science College in Irthlingborough have won both the Year 7 District Cup Final and the Year 8 District Cup Final this year.
In the Year 7 final the school beat the former District League winners from Wollaston and in the Year 8 final they beat the former District League winners from Wrenn School.
A school spokesman said: “In the Year 7 final the whole team performed extremely well and played with lots of determination and passion. The boys thoroughly deserved their 2-1 win and the trophy and should start next year as the hot favourites to win the league.
“The Year 8 players competed against their fierce rivals from Wrenn School. With five regular players missing on the day, we brought in four new players which meant the team was facing an uphill task. But they stepped up to the challenge, playing some exciting football and taking a 3-1 victory.”
