A free community carol service will be held this evening (December 16) in Wellingborough town centre.

The council has teamed up with All Hallows Church and Churches Together in Wellingborough to organise the service, which will take place at 6.15pm outside All Hallows in the town’s market place.

The mayor of Wellingborough, Cllr Jim Bass, will be attending the service. He said: “This is a very popular family event and one I look forward to. It’s a traditional celebration with lots of favourite carols and readings telling the Christmas story.

“I know it’s incredibly cold at the moment but I hope people wrap up warm and come and join us for this special occasion.”

The carol service is also part of the Wellingborough Living Advent Calendar, which sees 24 venues in and around the town opening their doors between December 1 and Christmas Eve to offer performances ranging from song and dance to folklore and local history.
