A charity is trying to recruit 100 volunteers to run across hot coals - wearing nothing on their feet.

Animals In Need in Little Irchester hopes to raise £10,000 from the charity fire walk which will help look after the animals in its care.

The charity is promoting the event as the shortest charity walk in the world.

Charity spokesman Annette Marriott said: “We are trying to recruit 100 people to do the event - if each of those people raise £100 in sponsorship that would be a staggering £10,000 for the animals.

“We’re going to make a night of it so there will be things like a bar, barbecue and a raffle.”

The event will take place on September 15 at Wellingborough Rugby Club.

There will be training from 6pm and the firewalk will begin at 8pm.

It will be held in conjunction with UK firewalkers Time4Change.
