A record breaking attempt for the highest number of people in a table tennis rally will be held this weekend.

On Saturday, July 6, the Guinness World Record Attempt will be held in Becket’s Park, Northampton, to launch Ping! Kettering and Ping! Northampton which will see outdoor tables appear in local parks and town centres, as well as various other events and locations throughout the summer.

The event aims to break the current world record of 106 people, and all abilities and ages are invited to help set a new world record of 107 people or over.

The event starts at 12.45pm with table tennis demonstrations from former European Champion, Desmond Douglas. The world record attempt will start at 1pm.

The record attempt is part of the On the Waterfront Festival, which will also feature craft and food fairs, water-sports, zorbing and other activities. The festival runs until 7pm, and the outdoor table tennis tables will be set up all weekend.
