A woman spat in the face of her robbery victim after realising she had no cash to steal.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attempted robbery which took place at about 8pm on Sunday, April 20, in Northampton Road on the Queensway estate in Wellingborough.

A police spokesman said: “The 35-year-old victim was approached by another woman with a young child, who asked for money.

“When she politely refused the woman spat at her and pulled a bag from her.

“The offender dropped the bag when she realised it contained nothing of value.”

The woman had olive skin and was 5ft 4in, of slim build and in her early 20s with dark hair scraped back into a bun.

She wore dark trousers and a blue top.

The child with her was about two-years-old.
